All About Faux Wood Blinds

Faux Wood Blinds are a great and wallet friendly alternative to real wood blinds. They offer more durability against dust, sunlight, warping and even humidity and moisture while still maintaining a classic real wood appearance. Even your guests won’t know the difference until they’ve put their nose right to the slats and given them a good feel.

The slat sizes available (ie: the width of each individual slat) are from 2”, 2 ½”, and even 3”. The color choices range from light to dark and all neutrals in between. We’re sure with all the selections here you’ll be able to find a color that matches your home perfectly and you can even decide on the slats texture; smooth or embossed.

Lovely matching valances come with your order for each faux wood blind and each sized slat comes with a few different choices. There is a standard valance, Crown Royale, and Monarch.

Standard valances have a very simple, clean and modern feel while both the Crown and Monarch are more decorative, Victorian and stand-out-ish. The Crown valance is by far the most Victorian and all are color coordinated to match your faux wood blinds nicely.

Cloth tapes are a popular option which can be added to the faux wood blinds, but never removed. We offer the 1 ½” wide standard fabric tapes in a very wide range of colors. The cloth tapes run down the front and back of the faux wood blinds where the route holes are so it can add an attractive look to coordinate with your homes décor. If you do not desire the cloth tapes on your cellular shades, a standard braided nylon string runs down through the route holes. The cloth tapes also cover the route holes, adding a little more privacy and light control. If you do the cloth tapes they cannot be removed so it does make cleaning a bit more of a challenge. The best way to clean them is to occasionally use a brush attachment on a vacuum cleaner or if somehow stained, a little water and/or a product like Tide's Magic Eraser Pen.

Cutouts can be done on the faux wood blinds if your window is not perfectly rectangular. Cuts can be done out of the sides or a center cut can be done for an extra surcharge too. Multiple blinds on one headrail is an option and sometimes is required if the window is really wide (like a bay window). There is often an extra charge for this. The faux wood blinds can be done as a 2 or a 3 on 1 headrail.

The faux wood blinds can be done as Routless if desired rather than doing cloth tapes or the standard route holes. Routless is done where the route hole that the strings run through is notched out of the back side of the slat so that when the slats are rotated closed you do not see the route holes. This is great if you desire more privacy or if you want to block out the light that normally shines through the route holes during the day when the faux wood blinds are rotated closed.

Motorization can be done on our faux wood blinds, too, but it is a tilt only motorization. The lifting of the faux wood blind would still be done manually with the standard lift cord. In most cases this is an Infrared control only which has a remote control and it operates your faux wood blind from up to 50’ from the receiver eye. You can operate a number of grouped faux wood blinds together or up to 3 faux wood blinds individually. You would operate all faux wood blinds simultaneously with Select All channel. The motors and the batteries are concealed inside all head rails. These are a battery powered motorization. The minimum width for motorization is 18” and the minimum length is 12”. A remote control is ordered for an extra charge. A satellite eye can be ordered too if you have some sort of fabric valance or cornice covering the infrared eye so that the eye can read the signal. The satellite eye will extend out and around your fabric valance or cornice.

There are a different number of ladder strings on the faux wood blinds depending on the width of your blind. This will also effect the number of cloth tapes that you have on the faux wood blinds, too, if you choose that option. The overall stack varies too when the faux wood blind is lifted all of the way up. The stack height runs from a 24” height having 5 inches of stack when lifted on a 2” faux wood blind up to approximately 11 inches of stack on a faux wood blind that is 96” in height. If you need an exact stack height for a certain length of blind feel free to call us for specific information.
